Notes from the tutorial:

Advanced	Simplified
Use monitor that is capable of full AdobeRGB	Use whatever you have
Use screen calibrator and set screen to ~100cd/m2	Use a reference image (or blank paper) to adjust screen brightness
Use printer able to take A3+ or larger paper with 8 or more inks including multiple shades of black with different blacks for glossy and matt papers	Home A4 printer that uses 3 colours plus single black
Use ICM profile specific to your printer and paper	Let printer manage colour for that general paper type
Exactly match printed colour to the colours on your screen	Let the hardware and software do what they can

Microsoft test image - follow instructions on image
White JPG image - adjust screen so that it matches the brightness of you photo paper under normal lighting conditions

Open link and right click on image and select Save Image.

Use rear tray for straighter paper path.
Moistened thumb and finger test for printing side (sticky side is for the ink to sink in).
Do not use borderless printing (overspray of ink collects and wrecks printer).
Use about 5mm minimum white edge on paper.
Respect your optimal image crop and don't worry about any resultant extra white space.
Select paper type closest to what you are using offered by standard printer section.
Let printer manage colour.
Set printer to Photo setting and print quality to High or Highest.
